Considerations Before Undergoing A Tummy Tuck In
Michalis 'BIG Mike' Kotzakolios

Exercise and dieting can be as repulsive as the body you’re trying to get rid of. Many will quit at some point during their journey, failing to reach the desired weight. Some of the hearty few, however, are wildly successful in losing weight. Once the target weight is reached, the journey isn’t quite over. For many people whose skin has lost its elasticity and “snap-back” ability, losing a considerable amount of weight results in loose skin. Instead of looking like a young swimsuit model, you might look like a thin person wearing baggy clothing. Fortunately, you can get that tight, youthful-looking skin with a tummy tuck in.

A tummy tuck in is a surgical procedure in which a surgeon cuts out some of the existing skin and literally stretches what’s left over the area to be tightened. The skin is sewn back on, and the tummy tuck in is complete.

If you’re considering a tummy tuck in, you must meet certain criteria. First, your general health should be good. You shouldn’t undergo a tummy tuck in if you are currently suffering from any kind of diseases or if you have a serious pre-existing medical condition. You should also have a realistic outlook on the results of the tummy tuck in. Although great results can be achieved, it will not look quite the same as the model in the swimsuit catalog whose skin was never stretched to begin with. With that in mind, a tummy tuck in will virtually eliminate all the loose skin that was stretched during your bigger days, and looking fantastic in a swimsuit is not out of the question.

While these factors are very important to consider prior to surgery, you should give equal consideration to factors after the surgery is finished. For example, you will not be able to just walk out of the hospital and be ready for a photo shoot. Recovery from a tummy tuck can take weeks to months, although usually normal activity can be resumed within a few weeks. Patience is extremely important. If you’re too impatient and want immediate results, you might find yourself extremely stressed during recovery. This is counterproductive, as stress hinders full recovery and will prolong it. If you have a pre-existing mental or emotional condition, you should think twice about undergoing surgery. The effects of the recovery and the anesthesia can exacerbate emotional problems and will also hinder recovery.

Post-pregnant women often undergo a tummy tuck to get rid of the stretched skin resulting from pregnancy. Before doing so, be absolutely sure that you are done with having children. If you were to become pregnant after a tummy tuck, you will undo everything done from surgery, plus risk additional damage from the surgically operated area.
